Panera sues the GAP, states new boot cut denim looks like a sandwich
Panera Fake News- Panera sued their landlord to try and stop a GAP retail outlet from opening in the same shopping center because they had a clause in their lease preventing the landlord from renting space to another retail location that has items that "portraiy" a sandwich.
Superior Court Judge Jeffrey Locke cited Webster's Dictionary as well as testimony from a chef and a former high-ranking federal agriculture official in ruling that GAP's new fall line denim and other offerings are not, nor resemble sandwiches.
The difference, the judge ruled, comes down to two slices of bread versus a pair of pants.
"A sandwich is not commonly understood to include pants, shirts or hats, which are typically made with cotton, microfiber and cloth," Locke wrote in a decision released last week.
